Canadian Parents and Grandparents Program to Reopen, Offering Family Reunification Opportunities.

( If You Applied to Sponsor Your Parents in 2020 but Missed Invitations in 2021 and 2022, Check Your Email Now for ITA)

On September 8, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has set ambitious goals for the year 2023. They plan to accept up to 15,000 complete applications for sponsorship under the Parents and Grandparents Program. The application process kicks off on October 10, 2023, with IRCC sending invitations to apply to 24,200 potential sponsors. The target is clear – receiving up to 15,000 complete applications. These invitations will be sent out over a two-week period.

Instead of making a new form for people who want to sponsor their family, they will pick people randomly from the group of forms submitted in 2020. They did this in 2021 and 2022, and it worked well. So, if you filled out a form in 2020 but didn’t get a chance to apply in the last few years, there’s still hope for you. Just check the email you used in 2020 when you filled out the form. You might receive an invitation to apply soon.

If you get an invitation to apply from IRCC, you can submit your application online, which is very convenient. They have two important online tools for this: the Permanent Residence Portal and the Representative Permanent Residence Portal. These tools make it easier to complete and submit your application digitally.
