The Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) allows eligible Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents or grandparents for permanent residence, subject to IRCC’s invitation process and program requirements.

Who Can Sponsor Parents or Grandparents in Canada?

you’re at least 18 years old.
you live in Canada.
you’re a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act
you have enough money to support the people you want to sponsor.

Income Requirements for Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship

Sponsors must meet the applicable minimum necessary income requirements for the three taxation years relevant to their application. A spouse or common-law partner may be eligible to co-sign the undertaking and combine qualifying income.

Income thresholds depend on family size and the applicable program intake.
