Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship is an immigration program that allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents and grandparents to come and live in Canada as permanent residents.

Eligibility Criteria to apply under parent/grandparent sponsorship

  • you’re at least 18 years old.
  • you live in Canada.
  • you’re a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act
  • you have enough money to support the people you want to sponsor.

The Parent/ Grandparent Sponsorship program is a Canadian immigration initiative that
allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents and grandparents to
come and live in Canada as permanent residents.

Canadian citizens and permanent residents who are at least 18 years old can be sponsors. They must meet specific income requirements to demonstrate their ability to support their sponsored family members.
Parents and grandparents can be sponsored under this program. However, they must also meet specific eligibility criteria, including medical and security checks.
Sponsors are financially responsible for the sponsored family members. They must commit to supporting them financially for 20 years, starting when they become permanent residents and ensure they do not need to rely on social assistance.

The income requirement for sponsors is assessed based on the number of family members in the household, including those being sponsored. Sponsors must meet the minimum necessary

Yes, there is a cap on the number of applications accepted each year. The Canadian government usually sets a quota for the number of applications they will accept.
Sponsors need to submit an Interest to Sponsor form during a designated intake period. If selected, they will receive an invitation to apply for sponsorship.
