FAQ's

Post-graduation work permit (PGWP) is a document issued by the government of Canada that allows international students who have graduated from eligible Canadian institutions to work in Canada after their studies for a specific period.

To qualify for a PGWP, you need to finish a minimum of 50% of your program in Canada, whether through online or in-person classes. Any online study completed outside Canada before August 31, 2024, will be included in the calculation of your PGWP duration, provided it doesn’t exceed 50% of your total program duration.

The validity of a post-graduation work permit (PGWP) can range from 8 months to up to 3 years. However, the duration of your permit is contingent upon the length of the study program you completed in Canada unless you have graduated from a master’s degree program.

You have up to 180 days, which is about six months, after you graduate to apply for a PGWP. But, to qualify, your study permit must have been valid at some point during those 180 days.

Even though you have 180 days to apply for a PGWP after your graduation date, it’s crucial to note that if you apply after your study permit has expired, you won’t have legal implied status and cannot work legally in Canada until you receive your PGWP.

You’ll only receive implied status if you have a valid study permit and apply within 90 days of your graduation date for a PGWP (Post-Graduation Work Permit). This means that while your PGWP application is being processed, you can stay in Canada legally and may be eligible to work

Yes, the work experience gained before receiving the PGWP may count towards permanent residency if you were on implied status. This means that your study permit was valid when you applied for the PGWP, and you submitted your PGWP application within 90 days of your graduation.

Fill out the application form accurately, ensuring all details are correct. Submit the required fee amount as specified and include all necessary documents. If you have any uncertainties, seek legal advice promptly. This opportunity is one in lifetime, so it’s crucial not to take any risks.
